FISHFACT is a leading independent provider of fisheries consultancy and fisheries management services. We work throughout the UK and Ireland providing fisheries and aquatic ecology surveys, fisheries impact assessments, and Habitat Directive Assessments (Appropriate Assessment reporting) for projects affecting the aquatic environment and fish populations. Examples of projects we regularly advise on include proposed small and scale hydroelectric schemes, wind farms, and also infrastructure projects such as road schemes, water supply schemes, flood alleviation schemes, and waste water discharges.

We also provide specialist surveys of rare or protected aquatic species as part of research or monitoring programmes. We have undertaken research projects on species such as Atlantic salmon, European eel, Arctic charr, European smelt, and the three UK and Irish lamprey species.

Our staff are all members of the Institute of Fisheries Management (MIFM), with senior staff also members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental management (MCIEEM) and registered as Chartered Biologists (CBiol) and/or Chartered Environmentalists (CEnv).
